Highland Cattle Art

Like many Highland Cattle owners, the McLaughlin’s enjoy collecting items depicting or promoting the breed. They also commission items from time to time, such as paintings by Lois Bee, an American who has lived in Scotland most of her adult life, married to a Scotsman. She has lived around Highland Cattle for years and grew to understand them and their owners, and developed her whimsical Highland Cattle paintings around those understandings. Her pictures usually have a lot going on, sometimes requiring knowledge of cattle, Scotland, their language and humor. Lois’s work can be viewed and purchased on Facebook at: https://www.facebook.com/highlandhoots/

This first picture is entitled “Fish Story”. Trout fishing is a major pastime in Scotland, especially on streams and rivers passing through many farms that raise Highland Cattle.
