How to Cook McLaughlin Farm Sausage Links

May 16, 2019 by McLaughlin Farm

The sausages are made with McLaughlin Farm Highland Ground Beef, which is dry aged and very lean.

Thaw sausages before cooking. The sausages do not have a lot of fat content and should be cooked over medium heat. High heat will dry them out. The sausage links are very good in buns and on pasta. The casings can be taken off and flavors combined for pasta dishes (Hot Italian and Sweet Italian). The sausage should cook to 160° F.

Suggested Cooking Methods:

Stove top – cook slowly over medium heat with about 1/4 inch of water in the fry pan. Occasionally turn the sausage links to cook evenly. After the water evaporates (about 6 minutes), continue to cook an additional 6-8 minutes until brown. The sausages can also be cut into discs and browned.

Grill – grill over medium heat. Turn occasionally as not to overcook. The sausage links will take about 15 minutes to cook through.
It is best to eat the sausages right after cooking for premium moistness and flavor.
